Below are some questions frequently asked. 01. Who are Due Diligence™? We are one of the leading providers of personal injury claim and compensation claims services in the Jamaica. We submit each claim to our specialist panel of attorneys, who have considerable experience in personal injury litigation. 02. What injuries can I claim for? You do not have to sustain a serious injury to be entitled to make a compensation claim. You are entitled in law to be compensated for injuries received in an accident which was not as a result of your negligence. These injuries include: Cuts, Bruises, Soft Tissue injury (whiplash), Broken Bones etc. 03. Is there a time limit on submitting a claim for personal injuries? You are entitled to recover any loss which you incur as a result of an accident including damaged clothing, expenses and loss of earnings when the accidental injury was shown not to be your fault for a period of up to six (6) years as per the Laws of Jamaica. 04. Should I have reported my injuries to my doctor or hospital? It can be beneficial to have a written record of the injuries either at your doctor or hospital and this is essential in the recovery process. The record (medical) is what is used to assist in the determination of the extent of your injuries and hence the desired amount for compensation. 05. What document s do I need, if any? You will be required to have medical evidence to support your condition, along with a police report, and any other documents which we may view as important in the submission of your claim (this will be discussed in your initial consultation). 06. How can a claim cost me nothing? We appoint attorneys who agree to enter into a Conditional Fee Agreement in relation to their legal costs. If you are successful in your claim, then the responsible third party are required to pay ALL of your legal costs. If for any reason you are unsuccessful in your claim Due Diligence™ will cover all the legal costs. This way the whole claim costs you nothing either way and your rights are protected in law! 07. Who will represent me with my personal injuries claim? Our specialist personal injury lawyers who have agreed to our exceptional service standards will represent you. 08. Will I have to visit your office? You may visit the office of Due Diligence™ if you wish, however you will not be inconvenienced or expected to attend the offices. Due Diligence™ will instruct an Assessor upon receipt of instructions who will arrange a confidential home visit at your convenience. We will then keep you informed every step of the way to progressing your claim. 09. What is the procedure for submitting a claim? Simply log your details on to the claim form press submit and leave the rest to us. Alternatively, if you prefer to make a claim by a telephone call to us on our helpline number and speak with one of our expert claims Advisers. 10. How long will the claim take? This will depend on the circumstances of your case. A straight forward road traffic accident can be settled within months, whilst more serious injuries may take longer. Once we have carried out initial investigations, we will be in a better position to anticipate how long it will take. You can be assured that Due Diligence™ will not delay your claim. 11. How much compensation could I expect? The level of compensation depends on the medical evidence. We can only predict the amount when we receive the independent medical report. We will then give you our informed opinion of how much your claim is worth. |
